Designing Your Business to Serve Your Life: Summer Edition

As we reach the halfway point of the year with kids finishing school, I find myself in a season of intentional pivoting. I'm reassessing where my business has been serving my life and where adjustments are needed for this new season.

Why I Became an Entrepreneur

I chose entrepreneurship for two main reasons: to have flexibility with my family and to help women design businesses that truly serve their life and their mission. But it's easy to lose sight of these foundational goals as our businesses grow. The entrepreneurial hamster wheel is real, and sometimes we need to pause and realign.

The Power of a Mid-Year Assessment

With summer upon us, I'm taking stock of how my business serves my bigger vision while ensuring I remain consistent for my clients. This assessment has revealed some important truths:

1. Revisit Your Offers

Looking at the tactical ROI of my time spent, I realized one of my offers was consuming nine hours monthly without leading towards what my bigger vision really is. By letting it go, I've reclaimed significant time in my schedule. This was not even taking into account what I was investing for my team members to create promotional materials and manage monthly payments.

Run a quick ROI check on your offers - what's profitable, what's draining, and what can be let go? This is where tracking becomes essential to mastery.

[Get my Revenue Tracker Template here] to monitor exactly which offers are generating the most return for your time investment, making these decisions data-driven rather than emotional.

2.. Reverse Engineer Your Schedule

Working backwards is working smarter. During summer months, I schedule from noon backward into the early morning. This frees up afternoons to spend with my teenagers (who, let's be honest, don't wake up until afternoon anyway).

Where can you shift your schedule to create more alignment with your life right now?

3. Streamline Your Week

The power of a three-day coaching week. I've designed my business around Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday coaching schedules, creating long weekends for camping, adventures, and recharging with my family.

Could a new weekly rhythm give you more space without sacrificing results? Using this time framework (another key component of my [Time Mastery system]) allows you to concentrate similar activities together, reducing context switching and increasing productivity even with fewer working days.

4. Reassess Your Team & Resources

Sometimes, the solution isn't working more hours—it's about smarter resource allocation. This means critically examining where you might need to reduce staff hours or shift focus to reallocate support in other areas. The goal is to make yourself more available for what matters most.

When assessing your financial needs, consider where adjustments can be made to support your life priorities better. This intentional reallocation creates space for both business success and personal fulfillment.

For ladies looking for VA support: If you're feeling stretched thin, it might be time to bring in expert support. I highly recommend Evonne and Kayla, who offer exceptional VA services to help you reclaim hours in your week while ensuring your business continues running smoothly. Their support allows you to focus on your zone of genius while they handle the tasks that drain your energy.

Making Intentional Business Decisions

This isn't just about summer planning—it's about honoring why we started our businesses in the first place. For me, these decisions are especially important as this is my last summer before my oldest heads to college.

Some questions worth asking yourself:

  • Where are your offers consuming time without adequate return?

  • How could restructuring your schedule create more alignment with your life priorities?

  • What financial adjustments might allow you to reallocate resources for better support?

  • Are you living the flexibility you envisioned when starting your business?

Living What I Teach AKA Practicing What I Preach

I'm grateful to see that the strategies I've implemented in my business for years are creating the flexibility I need during this transition to summer. As business owners, we must embody what we teach—designing businesses that serve our lives, not the other way around.

The consistency I've maintained around these principles has created the freedom I enjoy today. It's a powerful reminder that how we structure our businesses directly impacts our ability to be present for life's most precious moments.
